U3A Knox turns 30 in 2023

U3A Knox celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2023! Since its inception in 1993, U3A Knox’s membership has continued to grow, with what it offers its members continually expanding. Those who’ve joined have the opportunity to  share their expertise, knowledge and skills, learn from others, make new friends, and stay active.

The Committee of Management and Events Committee have many indoor and outdoor events being planned to celebrate this important milestone in a big way. The following timeline chronicles what’s planned for 2023.

Cliché Clothing Fashion Show a Huge Success

Steph, Vicki and Fred from Cliché Clothing did a fantastic job in showcasing their outfits at our recent fashion show, held on April 18.

Some of the many outfits offered by Cliché Clothing

Our models (Inge, Jenny, Lyn and Daphne) all looked beautiful and modelled their outfits with style.

There were some delicious refreshments on offer and a number of lucky winners in our free raffle, with prizes including chocolates, wine and gift vouchers kindly donated by Cliché Clothing.

All in all, there was a terrific response from our members and their guests, many of whom had never been to a fashion show before, and there were many requests to hold another show in the future, which the Events Committee have certainly taken on board.

In the meantime, stay tuned for information about our next events – a mid-year lunch on June 21 and a trivia quiz, which should be lots of fun, to be held during next term break in July.

What happened in 2022

The Events Committee planned a number of events for 2022. Unfortunately, many had to be cancelled due to concerns about COVID.

However, we were able to round off the year on a positive note with our Picnic in the Park, held at Tim Neville Arboretum in December. Our very own U3A Knox music groups provided some fabulous entertainment, the weather was great and the camaraderie was felt in abundance. Many people won terrific prizes in our free lucky draw. It was a very successful, fun day.

Here are a few photos from the day.
