COVID-19 and U3A Knox Vacation Program.
The U3A Knox Committee of Management want to reassure members that we are in constant discussion and keeping ourselves updated as to the developments regarding the spread of the Corona Virus and appropriate reactions. As a result, we have reassessed our Term 1 Vacation Program.
In coming to our decision, we have taken into account the following points:
- The situation is changing daily.
- People over the age of 65 are considered to be particularly vulnerable.
- Our official term is drawing to a close.
- Some tutors have expressed concern or even suspended planned vacation classes.
- Expressed concern of many members would mean reduced attendance.
This means there could be considerable confusion and challenge keeping all members updated on possible short-term developments at a time when the office is not officially open.
We have therefore decided, in the interests of the health and welfare of our members to cancel our vacation program entirely. The only exception will be the Flowerdale excursion which will go ahead as it has been booked and paid for.
We stress: we have not been officially advised to suspend classes or in any way to curtail our program, but given the rapid escalation of the spread of the virus, we are at this stage not willing to make a statement about the resumption for classes in term 2. We will keep you informed.
In the meantime, keep well.
Please note that the Bushwalking, Cycling , Caravan & Golf groups are not part of the Vacation Program and may continue during the Term Break.
